Dr. Toni Cortes

I am an Associate Professor at the Computer Architecture Department (DAC) in the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). I received my M.D. degree in 1992 and my Ph.D. degree in 1997, both at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

My research interests are focused on operating systems, middleware and runtimes for parallel machines and clusters of workstations. I am currently working on storage and operating systems for HPC.

Most of my research is done with the High Performance Computing group  and at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), where I am the manager of the storage system research group.

Regarding teaching, I mainly teach courses on operating-system, basic computer architecture, or programming. Most of my teaching activity is done at the Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona (UPC), but I also teach (or have taught) graduate courses at other universities like Universidad de Granada, Reading University, or ESADE (Business school).

I am a IEEE CS member and a USENIX member and its Campus representative at UPC.

I am the coordinator of the Single-system Image area within the IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.
